Macintosh DSL Connectivity: Connecting to a Wireless Network (Manually). How to set up a wireless network manually with a Mac.


This walk through will show you how to Manually Connect your Wireless connection in Mac OSX 10.6.x.
From the desktop, From the desktop, select System Preferences from the Apple Menu.

MAC OS X also has a Dock that holds frequently used icons



Select The Network Icon from the Internet & Wireless section of the System Preferences menu.




Select Airport from the left menu.
Click the Location drop menu.




Click the + sign at the bottom left side of the Locations Menu.





Type in the name of the Location. This can be what ever name the customer wants, then click Done.
Note: This name should be something that will easily identify the type of connection being created.




Click Turn Airport On
You will immediately see a warning box drop down asking for verification that you really want to perform this action. See Next Slide for example




This Screen will drop down when you press the Turn Airport On button.
Click Apply





Click the Network Name drop down.



Click Join Other Networks...





Click the Show Networks Button







Select your Network from the List that appears.
Enter the password.
Click Done



Verify status, then click Apply
